Perth Airport welcomes Emirates second daily A380 service

15 January, 2016
Perth Airport has welcomed the announcement that Emirates will add an additional daily A380 service to Perth from August 2016.

Emirates’ second A380 Perth service will operate daily on the EK425 morning Perth to Dubai service and the return EK424 flight.

The new service will increase the seat capacity of this route by nearly 100,000 additional seats per year, and with Emirates network to 38 destinations in Europe and 11 destinations in North America, offers Western Australians a number of easily accessible travel destinations.

“Emirates first commenced services to Perth in 2002, pioneering the now very popular connections through the Middle East to an extensive network of global destinations,” said Brad Geatches, Chief Executive Officer, Perth Airport.

"Emirates is continuing to lead the way, and their decision to introduce a second daily A380 Perth service is an exciting development for all Western Australians,” said Mr Geatches.

As part of Perth Airport’s $1 billion redevelopment, the new Departures lounge, opened in October 2015, has the capacity to accommodate passengers departing on two A380 aircraft at the same time, with 538 seats that allow passengers to charge their electrical appliances prior to their flight, and 184 comfortable lounge chairs.

“From our new Departures lounge, passengers are able to board directly onto the aircraft and Emirates passengers can access their recently opened Business and First Class Lounge,” said Mr Geatches.

“This expansion provides travellers with an enjoyable experience comparable to other gateway airports,” said Mr Geatches.

Perth Airport is committed to supporting Western Australian tourism through increased services and establishing new and improved airline partnerships that encourage growth in visitor numbers to Perth and Western Australia.
