Perth Airport has welcomed the announcement by Etihad Airways to upgrade their Perth to Abu Dhabi service with a new Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner, from 1 June 2016.

“We are delighted that Etihad Airways has chosen Perth as the route for one of its new Dreamliner aircraft,” said Fiona Lander, Executive General Manager Corporate Affairs, Perth Airport.

The daily service will offer passengers the latest in in-flight entertainment and a superior cabin experience in one of the 299 seats in either Economy or Business Class.

“Customers now have the option to travel on one of the world’s quietest and most innovative aircraft,” said Ms Lander.

“Etihad Airways’ partnership with Virgin Australia also means that, with the recent opening of the T1 Domestic Terminal, customers can now transfer seamlessly between regional, interstate and international services in one convenient location making it easier for international visitors to connect directly to WA regional destinations.  This is an exciting opportunity for the WA tourism industry,” said Ms Lander.

Etihad has a network of more than 116 destinations in 68 countries, including convenient connections between Perth, UK/Europe and the Americas, offering Western Australians a number of easily accessible travel destinations.

Etihad will be the fifth airline to operate the Boeing 787-900 to Perth, alongside Air New Zealand, China Southern, Scoot and Thai Airways.

Perth Airport is committed to supporting Western Australian tourism through increased services and establishing new and improved airline partnerships that encourage growth in visitor numbers to Perth and Western Australia.
