A fresh new approach to dining at Perth Airport

15 December, 2015
Another transformation milestone has been reached at Perth Airport, with the completion of a new 760 square metre food and beverage area at Terminal 1 (T1) International.

As part of Perth Airport’s $1 billion redevelopment program, the new centrally located dining area is home to a range of quality food and beverage outlets - part of a number of initiatives to greatly improve the customer experience at Perth Airport.

“We have focused on providing the best local produce and incorporating the latest food trends to appeal to all of our visitors - from premium wines and boutique beers, to favourites from around the world,” said Scott Norris, Executive General Manager, Commercial Services, Perth Airport.

Passengers can now relax in a comfortable, central location with friends and family before progressing though Immigration and security screening.

“The new, centrally located dining area provides a casual environment for travellers on the move, as well as areas designed to accommodate those who may want to spend more time relaxing before a flight.”

“An important consideration in selecting our new food and beverage operators was providing customers with choice, value and quality,” said Mr Norris.

For those after a local craft beer on tap or one of Western Australia’s finest wines in an urban and edgy setting, Long Neck bar and restaurant, owned by well-known executive chef Chris Taylor in partnership with Red Rock Leisure, is the perfect place to relax and share delicious tapas style food.

“As a chef and operator of leading establishments, it’s been a natural progression to extend our offering to Perth Airport,” said Chris Taylor.

“To be able to offer regional and branded produce to both local and international travellers in a new, crisp and well-designed environment has been an exciting process,” he said.

Italian espresso bar, Macchinetta, provides barista made coffee and an impressive selection of handmade Italian pastries and, for the more health conscious, we have Harvest, a licensed Australian café with an in-store health and breakfast bar.

The first Australian on-airport Guzman Y Gomez taqueria offers the real flavours of Mexico made fresh to order, and Australian favourite Hungry Jacks is also on offer.

Delaware North operate a range of local and international food and beverage offerings across all terminals at Perth Airport and is behind two of the latest concepts - Guzman Y Gomez and Harvest.

“We are thrilled to be extending our partnership with Perth Airport into T1 International,” said Kieran Fitzpatrick, Chief Operating Officer, Delaware North.

“We are excited to unveil the first Guzman Y Gomez at any airport in Australia, together with our proprietary Harvest concept, which is a platform to showcase fresh and seasonal food and beverage of Western Australia.”

“We have a clear objective – to deliver authentic culinary concepts together with exemplary customer service, to ensure that we play a successful part in creating the most positive experience of Perth and Western Australia for departing local and international guests,” said Mr Fitzpatrick.

The new outlets in T1 International include:

  • Long Neck bar and restaurant,
  • Harvest,
  • Guzman Y Gomez,
  • Hungry Jack’s,
  • Macchinetta, and
  • a boutique espresso bar tucked to the rear of Perth LINK.
Significant investment has been made to bring Perth Airport up to a world-class standard, with $325 million invested across T1 International.

“2015 has been an exciting year at Perth Airport, with many redevelopment projects reaching completion.  The new dining area certainly raises the bar in terms of the experience for all passengers and visitors to Perth Airport,” said Mr Norris.

As well as world-class food and beverage outlets, a range of premium retailers are also located in the same area, including:
  • a new 300 square metre JR/Duty Free store,
  • Perth LINK store,
  • Travelex,
  • Rip Curl,
  • Sunglass Hut,
  • Australian Way, and
  • Purely Merino.
In early 2016, Red Rock Leisure will open a new Haymarket concept store, located in the airside T1 International Departures area, which will be home to a new six-in-one food and beverage outlet that includes a bar, café, bakery, delicatessen, juice bar and pizzeria.

Construction of the final two projects at T1 International has commenced, and passengers and visitors to the airport will be able to enjoy a spacious 27 metre landscaped forecourt plaza, with two new food and beverage outlets that can be accessed from both inside and outside the terminal, as well as a range of speciality stores.
