Perth Airport Unveils Its New Front Door

25 November, 2016
Perth Airport’s new and expanded Terminal 1 (T1) forecourt, featuring two exciting new dining experiences, are now opened to the public as part of its historic $1 billion redevelopment program.

The $54 million makeover includes a spacious 27 metre landscaped plaza, four new specialty stores and two food and beverage outlets – The Crafty Swan Kitchen and Bar, and Juice & Bean Co, both operated by Emirates Leisure Retail Australia.

“Our significant investment at T1 and the surrounding precinct provides a world-class gateway to the State of Western Australia,” said Kevin Brown, Chief Executive Officer, Perth Airport.

“Providing a welcoming and lasting impression of Western Australia, combined with a superior customer experience, has been key to the forecourt upgrade.”

“We’re thrilled to introduce our latest premium food and beverage options to the forecourt, which can be accessed from both inside and outside the terminal.”

“The new outlets raise the bar of the pre-flight experience and enable our great outdoor lifestyle to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike,” said Mr Brown.

Inspired by Perth’s vibrant artisan food and beer culture, The Crafty Swan Kitchen and Bar showcases Western Australia’s best local and seasonal produce, and offers a locally inspired menu designed by consulting Michelin-starred chef Jason Walker.

“This unique dining experience incorporates the sophistication of a premium restaurant, offering high quality meals made-to-order and paired with the finest local craft beers and wine that can be enjoyed in a casual and contemporary dining space,” added Mr Brown.

Bringing a new twist to the airport dining scene, Juice & Bean Co. offers fun, novel elements such as a theatrical “Frozen Factory” bar serving liquid nitrogen “brookies” (a mix between a brownie and a cookie), popcorn and frozen yoghurt, as well as fresh fruits, juices, premium coffee and ‘grab & go’ sandwiches.

Adam Summerville, Managing Director, Emirates Leisure Retail Australia, said Emirates was delighted to be a key partner with Perth Airport as part of such a significant redevelopment project.

“We are thrilled to present the very best of Perth and WA produce in The Crafty Swan Kitchen & Bar and are delighted that renowned local chef, Jason Walker, will bring our food and beverage offer to life,” said Mr Summerville.

“We are equally excited to be given the opportunity to deliver a unique snack, ‘grab & go’ coffee and fresh produce store that is fun, unique and provides a memorable experience to travellers and visitors.”

Mr Brown said the new venues align well with Perth Airport’s continued focus on enhancing its dining experience.

Part of a wider food and beverage transformation at Perth Airport, the new outlets complement the extensive range of options available at T1 Domestic and T1 International.

The new specialty retail stores that are now open on the ground floor of T1 include Trader and Travelwell, operated by Lagadere Travel Retail; Rolling Luggage by Samsonite; Smarte Carte Baggage Services; and a convenient Travelex foreign exchange service for last minute travel essentials.

Other features of the upgraded forecourt include full Wi-Fi coverage, additional lighting and landscaping incorporating plants native to Western Australia.
