Board members
Robert Cole joined the Board as an Independent Non-Executive Director in January 2023 and subsequently as Chair in March 2023. Robert has over 35 years' experience in energy, resources, infrastructure, and the legal profession. He is a former Executive Director of Woodside, Managing Director of Beach Energy, Chair of Perenti Ltd, (ASX:PRN) and partner-in-charge of King & Wood Mallesons in Perth.
He is currently Chair of Iluka Resources Ltd (ASX:ILU), a leading developer and producer of mineral sands and rare earths and a Non-Executive Director of Cleanaway Waste Management Ltd. In addition to his private sector experience, he has extensive experience chairing WA Government Trading Enterprises, including as Chair of Synergy and former roles as Chair of Southern Ports and Chair of Landgate. He is also a member of the Council of Curtin University.
Lyndon Rowe joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in August 2004. He is Commissioner of the Northern Territory Utilities Commission and a Non-Executive Director of the Mannkal Economic Education Foundation.
Lyndon is a former Chairman of the Electricity Generation and Retail Corporation (trading as Synergy) from 2014-2017, a former Executive Chairman of the WA Economic Regulation Authority from 2004-2014, and Chief Executive of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of WA from 1992-2004. In addition, he has been a member of the Senate of The University of Western Australia from 2000-2012 and a Director of Westcheme Pty Ltd.
Amanda McMillan joined the Board in January 2019. Amanda is an Executive Director in Macquarie’s Infrastructure and Real Assets Australian Transport Team. She is the former Chief Executive Officer of AGS Airports Limited, one of the United Kingdom’s leading airport groups and operator of Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports and was previously the Chair of Hobart Airport; a director of North Queensland Airports Limited; and a director of Queensland Airports Limited.
Prior to her career in aviation Amanda worked for the global drinks company Diageo and KPMG in financial and leadership roles. She was awarded an OBE for her services to business and tourism in 2013.
Clive Appleton joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in February 2014. Clive Appleton has extensive experience in property and funds management and property development, having worked for several of Australia's leading retail property investment, management and development groups. Clive Appleton is Deputy Chairman of The Gandel Group, Chairman of Aspen Group Limited and Pancare Foundation, and a non-executive director at Vicinity Centres.
Clive was the Managing Director of The Gandel Group (1997-2004). Between 1990 and 1997 Clive was Managing Director of Centro Properties Limited (later Federation Centres). He was Chief Executive Officer of Jennings Properties Limited (which became Federation Centres) for 10 years until 1997, and was previously Chairman of AG Coombs, and a Non-Executive Director of APN Property Group Limited.
Ankit Mehta joined the Board in June 2023. Ankit is an Investment Director at HRL Morrison & Co and responsible for the origination, execution and asset management of infrastructure investments.
Ankit has over 16 years’ experience in investment management, transaction advisory and corporate governance across airports, seaports, digital infrastructure, renewables, midstream energy and regulated utilities.
Ankit holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Information Systems from the University of Melbourne and a Finance Honours from Monash University.
Elizabeth is a Director in Morrison and Co’s Global Investment Group.
She is a member of Morrison & Co’s Global Asset Management Committee which has oversight over the management of the global asset portfolio and has direct responsibility for the performance of a number of the investments Morrison & Co manages on behalf of its clients. She has extensive industry executive experience including 9 years with Sydney Airport immediately prior to joining Morrison & Co in 2018, and several years working as a competition and regulatory lawyer focussed on infrastructure.
Elizabeth is a director of Perth Airport, Queensland Airports Ltd, Wellington Airport and Land Registry Services, and an executive board member of the World Airport Lawyers’ Association.
John has decades of advisory and capital markets experience across equity, debt, infrastructure, and property.
In parallel with his career as an investment banker, John has also been an active non-executive director of ASX-listed companies, government and education bodies and not-for-profit organisations.
John is executive chair of Poynton Stavrianou Pty Ltd and non-executive chair of Strike Energy Ltd.
John has served on the boards of ASX, Multiplex, Alinta and Austal, and for the Federal Government he has been a director of EFIC, the Reserve Bank of Australia’s Payments System Board and the Higher Education Endowment Fund.
John recently stepped down after 10 years as a Guardian of Australia’s sovereign wealth fund, the $200+ bn Future Fund.
In the not-for-profit arena, John has chaired the Council of Christ Church Grammar School and was a long-standing board member of the Business School at the University of WA. John has also served as chair of Celebrate WA, Giving West, and the Foundation of the WA Museum.
In 2006 John was the recipient of the Western Australian Citizen of the Year Award in the Industry and Commerce category and in 2016 he was appointed as an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia.
John holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an honorary Doctor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia where he was also awarded a Dean’s Medal.
John is an experienced pilot and holds a private fixed wing licence with a command instrument rating. He also holds a commercial helicopter licence.
Monica Ryu is a Senior Investment Director in the infrastructure team at AustralianSuper and joined the Perth Airport Board as a Non-Executive Director in February 2021.
Prior to joining AustralianSuper, Monica was a partner in L.E.K. Consulting’s transport and infrastructure team for over 20 years where she advised the public and private sector on a range of strategic, commercial and operational issues, including several domestic airports. Monica is on the Advisory Board of the South Australian Public Transport Authority (SAPTA), part of the SA Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
Gillian joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in May 2023. Gillian is the Head of Legal at Future Fund (Australia’s sovereign wealth fund) which she joined in 2013.
Gillian is a corporate lawyer who previously worked at Herbert Smith Freehills in Melbourne. Gillian started her career in the private equity team at a law firm in London.
